Sunshine Blogger Award Nomination 2018

Sunshine Blogger Award Nomination 2018

I’m feeling particularly pleased today as I have been nominated for the ‘Sunshine Blogger Award’ liveloveran  to whom I am extremely grateful. I headed over to her wonderful travel blog  to find out more. So the idea is to promote our fellow bloggers. Fortunately, the blogging community is a fabulously friendly place and bloggers are always ready to lend each other a helping hand. The Sunshine Blogger Award is another way for us bloggers to support each other and spread some love and positivity.

Sunshine Blogger Award Rules

The rules for the Sunshine Blogger Award are as follows:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link to their blog.
  2. Answer 11 questions they have set on their blog (the ones set by Liveloveran for me can be found here and are answered below.)
  3. Nominate 11 fellow bloggers and write a new set of questions for them to answer.
  4. Inform the 11 nominees via social media and spread the love!

The Answers to my Questions:

What is one thing you cannot live without?

The one material thing I could not live without would be my camera. I would seriously fall to pieces without it. Honestly, I carry my camera everywhere with me, when I go for a walk, on a shopping spree or even when going for coffee with friends. I love to capture each and every moment of my life.

What inspires you every day?

I know it might sound corny but my children inspire me everyday. Without them I would have no motivation to get up and work as hard as I do. I hope to set them a good example of a great work ethic for them to follow.

Where do you see yourself 3 years from now?

In three years from now I’ll be 37 (an incredibly scary thought), that’s the only thing that’s certain. Rather than thinking about material things, I just hope that I’ll be happy then. Cars, money, houses will come and go, but happiness is a thing I aspire to achieve and to keep.

If you can only wear one colour for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

Without a doubt, green. I don’t even have to think about it. Green is my favourite colour, it reminds me of nature. I have no idea if it suits me or not, but I adore this colour. Also I find myself continuously asking ‘is this available in green’?

What are you scared of?

I have a number of peculiar yet very real phobias that amuse my family to no end! My biggest fear is fish – I have no idea how this phobia developed, but I have been terrified of both living and dead fish since childhood. I cannot eat fish, look at them (not even pictures) or be in the same room as them.

What is one thing you have to do everyday, no excuses?

Everyday I have to tell my children that I love them more than anything. I try to cram this in as many times as possible. But I would not be able to sleep in the knowledge I had not told them this.

How do you find motivation?

To motivate myself, I think about my children and the future I would like to give them. This thought has motivated me through the toughest times in my life.

What is something you’d like to achieve before you die?

Before I die I would like to master the Latin language. When I did my PhD, the one flaw in my thesis was my lack of expertise in Latin. I promised myself in that exam that I would not be let down by this failing ever again (not that it’s something I will use everyday!).

Where are you currently and do you like it there? Why?

I am currently sat in the dining room of my brand new home. I absolutely love it, it is perhaps my most favourite room in the house. The energy in here is so positive because as a family, we have made this space the hub of the house. We no longer sit in the lounge in front of the TV, instead we play games, chat and generally spend time together in our beautiful dining room.

Any hobbies you’d like to take up in the future?

Without a doubt, archery! I have no idea why (probably because I’m a medievalist) but I’ve always wanted to master the sport. Sadly archery isn’t particularly accessible in 21st century Manchester, so this is a work in progress!

What would you like to say to your younger self?

I would say to my younger self, don’t be drawn in by other people’s negativity and dramas. You’re going to make mistakes but let them be your own, on your own terms, rather than the result of someone else’s nonsense. I would also say you’re going to meet some amazing people in the future – treasure them and love them because tomorrow comes around too quickly.

I LOVE your responses! Particularly that you want to learn Latin and take up archery! I did archery when I was younger but it is inaccessible in my current situation too! Some day! The advice you’d give your younger self is perfect! I would like you to give that advice to my younger self as well!
