My family and I love to travel! Every now and again, (in fact, very rarely), my husband and I get the opportunity to visit a hotel on our own. To enjoy the hotel and its surroundings in absolute peace and quiet! A rare luxury!
Last year we stayed at the fabulous Cumbria Grand Hotel and we’re looking for another fantastic experience! Our anniversary is fast approaching and we’ve been shopping around for the perfect weekend getaway! As we’ll only have one night, we need a hotel close to home in the North West of England.
10 Hotels in the North West on my Hotel Bucketlist!
30 James Street Hotel, Liverpool
30 James Street Hotel in Liverpool city centre has been on my hotel bucket list for quite some time now. Friends of ours have stayed here and have nothing but fabulous things to say about this 4* hotel.
The Titanic-themed hotel is the perfect place for a couple’s getaway or for a girlie weekend away. The hotel offers a luxury spa and a fine-dining restaurant. The rooms look absolutely amazing!
Prince of Wales, Southport
I have visited the Prince of Wales in Southport many times to enjoy their excellent lunch and it is one of the best hotels in the North West! We regularly visit Southport, it’s only an hour’s drive away from our home. I have always said I’d love to stay in this grand hotel! If the food is anything to go by, this hotel will offer an amazing overnight stay!
If you’re visiting Southport, this hotel is ideally located – close to the beach and on the main stretch of shops and cafes. This hotel is reminiscent of the Victorian seaside holiday and I think it oozes elegance and class.
Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, Manchester
I have walked passed the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel dozens of times and have always admired its magnanimity! It is a most strikingly modern building and its rooms look extremely luxurious and simply stunning!
This hotel would be absolutely perfect for someone taking a city break in Manchester as it lies in the heart of the city. It’s the perfect place for us to enjoy a cheeky night away too!
Higher Trapp Hotel, Burnley
The Higher Trapp is one of the most scenic hotels in the North West! Set in 36 acres of beautiful gardens, the Higher Trapp Hotel is the perfect setting for a weekend getaway. This hotel has been on my bucket list for quite some time now. Each room is different and they all look absolutely charming. The hotel boasts an excellent restaurant and the food looks delicious.
I cannot wait to visit this stunning hotel and walk the scenic grounds.
Ribby Hall, Wrea Green (near Blackpool)
For a fun weekend away, you can’t get much better than Blackpool! But if you’re looking for luxury accommodation near this fun town, then you can’t get any better than Ribby Hall Hotel and spa. Many of my friends have stayed here for hen parties and birthday celebrations and all have highly recommended the hotel.
With an on-site spa and luxury restaurant, there’s no better way to relax.
Linthwaite House
Boasting beautiful lakes, rolling hills and picturesque
Set in private gardens and woodlands, I cannot think of a better place to spend a weekend away in the Lakes. Enjoying views of Windemere, this hotel is ideally located in the heart of the Lake District.
Holdsworth House
Holdsworth House is a breathtaking 17th-century manor house located in Halifax. Just the thought of all the history of this building gives me tingles!
The rooms are modern and extremely tasteful and the hotel is set amongst the most beautiful gardens. One of the reasons this hotel is on my North West bucket list in the first place is its great website (I love the little map of Halifax in particular!) The hotel might be 400 years old, but they’ve certainly stepped into the 21st century!
Hazlewood Castle
I visited Hazlewood Castle for a superb afternoon tea and it left me wishing I could have extended my stay at this luxury hotel in Leeds. The rooms have individual names just to add to the overall charm of the place.
One of the attractive features of the hotel is its resident ghosts! Many guests have reported paranormal experiences in the hotel (nothing threatening of course). But with an extensive history and its former use as a monastery, it’s no small wonder guests have heard bumps in the night! I’m eager to experience some of this activity for myself!
Mollington Banastre Hotel
One of the things I love about Chester is its variety of high-quality hotels so close to the city centre. One of the key features of Mollington Banastre Hotel and Spa is its location – only 1.5 miles from Chester city centre. Staying here will mean you can venture into the city and return to the hotel to enjoy the relaxation of its surroundings and its services.
With a spa on site, you might not find the time to venture out! The sauna and hot tub sound so inviting! Guests can also enjoy quality food in the hotel restaurant, you don’t even need to leave the hotel at all – perfect for a romantic getaway.
The Royal Toby Hotel, Rochdale
The Royal Toby was the venue for my wedding in 2012 so it holds a special place in my heart and simply had to be on my list of Hotels in the North West. Although we have been to the Royal Toby for various meals since we married, my husband and I have not yet enjoyed another night’s stay at the hotel since our wedding night.
I can speak from experience of the high-quality rooms, the friendliness of the staff and of the excellent food. All who attended my wedding and stayed the night commented on the remarkable service they received from the hotel.
We’re hoping to make an extra special night of our anniversary this year and book a stay at our wedding venue!
So, if you’re planning to stay in a hotel in the North West, I hope you’ve found some inspiration!
These are all beautiful! I’d love to stay in the castle. ?
