Shibui Teas – Tea Sensation!

Shibui Teas – Tea Sensation!

I have been kindly sent a selection of delicious teas by Shibui Tea and wanted to tell my readers all about them! Shibui Tea is a family-run business and a great deal of love and creativity go into the products the two brothers, John and Paul create.

My daughter and I have been enjoying these wonderful teas over the past few days. We certainly had our favourites among them.

To my surprise, I discovered that not only are the tea bags compostable, but also the plastic like packaging the teas are wrapped in are also compostable. The plastic-like material is in fact called Natureflex, a product made from wood pulp! So the products are totally eco-friendly.

Let me tell you, I honestly don’t want to empty my indoor food recycling bin into the outdoor bin. The tea bags still smell absolutely gorgeous! Every time I lift the lid of the bin, the sweet aroma of the teas fill my kitchen.

Shibui Teas

Here’s what we thought:

Chocolate and Ginger

I’m not normally a fan of these two flavours together. However, these flavours were perfectly blended in the tea to create a magnificent flavour. The chocolate gave the tea a lovely sweet taste, this was followed by the kick of the ginger. The chocolate and ginger tea was my daughter’s favourite of the Shibui teas!

Rooibos and Orange

This was a real pallet cleanser with a subtle hint of flavour, perfect after a meal.

Mulled Spice

This tea really tasted of mulled wine and reminded us of Christmas. This mulled spice tea had a really powerful flavour. It was crisp, warm and aromatic.

Gingerbread

When drinking this tea, the whole house could smell gingerbread! It was absolutely delicious and my favourite of all the teas. The tea gave a real kick to the palet.

Matcha and Sencha

This tea had a really mild flavour, reminiscent of green tea. This would be an ideal choice for someone who doesn’t enjoy the bolder tea flavours.

English Breakfast

My husband isn’t a fan of flavoured teas and is rather a connoisseur of English breakfast tea. I gave him this tea to try and he was really impressed! He really enjoyed this product and has put in his request for more!

Early Grey

Earl Grey is the tea my family and I are most familiar with. This product was really rich in flavour. We enjoyed the unmistakably rich citrus taste of this traditional tea.

Tropical Green

I could smell this tea from the other room. The tropical summer aromas emanating from the cup were amazing! I wish I could demonstrate with smell-o-picture! This scent was undoubtedly my favourite! The fresh taste of summer was a real heart warmer as I enjoyed the cuppa in mid-winter!

Some Final Words

I absolutely loved all the Shibui teas I was sent. The products arrived extremely quickly. I will certainly be ordering more of Shibui teas and trying some additional flavours – there is a huge selection to choose from! If you’re looking to try something full of flavour and aroma – try the gingerbread or tropical green tea. If more subtle flavours are your thing, then go for the English Breakfast or Matcha and Sencha Shibui teas.

Oooh I love a good cup of tea! I’m a fan of Earl Grey and English Breakfast myself.

However, I am always up for trying new flavours. The fact you say they smell amazing makes me really want to give them a try. 🙂

What would you say the Tropical Green tasted like. Sounds like something I would love to try!

It was delicious! It wasn’t as strong in flavour as some of the other teas. I expected it to be really sweet but it wasn’t, it reminded me of tropical fruits! xxx

I wish I was a fan of tea because the different flavors always sound so amazing. But no matter what I try, there is just a taste I can’t get past. The only exception for me is Chai. But these sound so wonderful and I love the eco-friendly packaging!
