Easter Resources From Mrs Mactivity

Easter Resources From Mrs Mactivity

Aurelia and I have been introduced to a most wonderful website – Mrs Mactivity. I honestly cannot praise this site enough! It is designed for parents and teachers and contains a variety of creative resources for Primary School aged children. The activities have been designed by teachers and tested by children to ensure they deliver educational yet fun resources. Mrs Mactivity is truly a unique website which promotes learning through play.

Each resource is categorised under the relevant heading. One of the things I love about this site is it is extremely user-friendly. Some educational resources websites overwhelm users with masses of resources and spammy adverts. Mrs Mactivity contains a wealth of relevant, carefully planned resources. Their emphasis is on quality over quantity. Furthermore, you can see exactly what the resource is prior to downloading, thus avoiding downloading lots of useless activities before finding what you’re looking for.

Mrs Mactivity is free to join and some resources are free to download. However, if you want a wider selection of resources, for an incredible bargain of £9.97 per year, you are free to download as many activities as you like!

Easter Resources

Since Easter is only around the corner, we decided to select some activities from the Easter category to try out.

Chick Life Cycle

Aurelia decided to create the life cycle of a chick.

Firstly, she coloured in the printed sheet.

Then following the instructions, Aurelia carefully cut out her chick life cycle. (She decided to listen to some music while she worked!)

We then glued the paper to a paper plate and pushed a pin through the centre (we used some blue tack to hold the pin in place and to avoid any injuries). And there we have it – the life cycle of a chick!

Butterfly Life Cycle

Aurelia has been learning all about the life cycle of the butterfly in school this term. She was really keen to create this paper plate activity. Firstly, we printed out the relevant sheet and instructions.

Aurelia coloured the printed sheet.

Following the instructions, we created the wheel using 2 paper plates.

Aurelia enjoyed playing with her new toy! She impressed her teachers with her creative butterfly life cycle!

Easter Bouquets

Now this activity really drew in the whole family! (There was a lot of adult colouring in going on!)

This is a really simple activity and great fun too! Simply colour the patterns on the sheets.

Then follow the instructions to create your very own Easter bouquet (we’re using ours on Easter Sunday to store our mini eggs!)

My 17-year-old daughter and I also made our own Easter bouquets!

Easter Number Bonds

This activity for me represents the whole ethos of Mrs Mactivity – learning made fun! In this activity, children consider which two numbers make 20 and thus solve maths problems.

Firstly, Aurelia coloured in the Easter eggs, each of which contained 2 numbers.

We then carefully cut around the dotted lines. We mixed up the numbers.

I let Aurelia take the lead here – she wanted to line up some of the numbers in a row before considering which two numbers were needed to add up to 20.

As you can see, two halves of the egg make a jigsaw! This is a great way to introduce children to concepts of addition or, if like Aurelia, children are familiar with addition, this is a great way to practice their skills.

Easter Lego STEM Challenge

This is an ongoing activity! Aurelia loves to play with Lego so this activity was made for her!

The Easter Lego challenge sheet contains a number of tasks for the children to complete. These are then cut out. The challenges vary in difficulty.

We had placed the cards face down and Aurelia chose a card at random.

Aurelia’s challenge was to ‘Make a 3D Lego egg shape’ (using the picture as a guide). Here is her creation!

These challenges now form part of Aurelia’s Lego set and she selects a different challenge each time she plays. (More images to follow).

I have honestly been raving about the Mrs Mactivity site to all of my Mummy friends. All the activities require very little equipment – usually colouring pencils, scissors and a paper plate or two. This makes the activities extremely accessible and inexpensive. Each activity requires some simple cutting which has given Aurelia great practice at using scissors (something her school are really keen to promote).

We will be showcasing some of the other wonderful activities from Mrs Mactivity in some future posts, so keep a lookout for those!

I cannot praise this site enough, Mrs Mactivity has truly combined fun and education to bring some unique activities that captivate children and adults alike!

Mrs Mactivity looks like a very nice educational site for kids. It has very cute learning ideas for kids to color and make. The price also sounds very reasonable for the year.
